Dr. Erik Navas Villar is an Ophthalmologist, Specialist in Anterior Segment Surgery, Refractive Surgery, and Cornea at CODET Vision Institute in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.
Dr. Navas graduated as a Medical Surgeon from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) FES Iztacala, where he was awarded the Student Mobility Scholarship for academic excellence to study Medicine at the Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia. Subsequently, he completed his undergraduate internship at the Hospital General in Mexico City.
Dr. Navas participated in a social service program in health research at the Unidad de Investigación del Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias (INER) in Mexico City.
Later, he completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Hospital General Manuel Gea González, an institution recognized for its expertise in ocular trauma.
He pursued his first Fellowship in Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery, where he found his passion for patient care, aiming for perfection in outcomes of intraocular lens surgery. He also contributed to the development, alongside Dr. Arturo Chayet, of the 5-Star Surgeon software, enabling other surgeons to improve their refractive outcomes.
He completed his second fellowship in Cornea, specializing in diseases of the ocular surface and advanced corneal transplant techniques.
He currently serves as Co-Director of the Cornea Service and Associate Physician of the Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery Service at CODET Vision Institute.
