Dr. Arturo Chayet gives lectures at the ESCRS 2024 Congress

Dr. Arturo Chayet presented innovations in cataract, pterygium, and LASIK surgery at the ESCRS 2024 Congress, showcasing CODET Vision Institute's commitment to advancing ophthalmology and improving patient outcomes.

At the beginning of September Dr. Arturo Chayet, Founder and Medical Director of CODET Vision Institute, accompanied by Dr. Erik Navas, attended the ESCRS (European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons) 2024 congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Dr. Chayet presented two lectures: “Light Adjustable Lens: A Useful Tool for Simultaneous Cataract and Pterygium Surgery” and later “Accuracy of Preoperative Predicted Percentage of Tissue Altered in Myopic Femto-LASIK Surgery Using Optical Low-Coherence Reflectometry.

The first conference discussed the advantages of performing a combined surgery to treat cataracts and pterygium using the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL). In cases where the patient suffers both from pterygium and cataracts, a surgeon may choose to treat both conditions simultaneously. However, several studies have shown that removing a moderate pterygium can flatten the central cornea and induce astigmatism. To address this, it is proposed to implant a Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) to ensure that the patient does not need to wear glasses after the operation.

The second conference given by Dr. Chayet discussed research that was conducted here at CODET Vision Institute. It aimed to propose new safety parameters for All-Laser-LASIK. The actual effect of the laser on the cornea was analyzed to propose new criteria for selecting patients who may be candidates for the surgery.

This participation by our founder reflects CODET Vision Institute’s ongoing commitment to excellence in eye health care and the advancement of the ophthalmology profession in Mexico and around the world. It also showcases the advancements in ophthalmic procedures that have been made possible within our facilities.
